Is there anyone who has used a carrier bearing puller who thinks they can describe some of the functionality of the unit? Specificly, does the shoulder/ collar load against the cage or the rollers?
I am discussing with another machinist , who has a CNC lathe, as to making some parts for a puller. My thoughts are to use a large pipe coupling as the outer body and have two half pieces that will screw into the coupling so as to fit behind the bearing. Then also something for the other end of the coupling that will have the forcing screw in it. I want to know how to shape the grip collar/shoulder that fits behind the bearing.
