Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Cart before the horse

I just ordered a new Edge EZ... ... . Oo.

But I havn't talked myself into upgrading to 4" exhaust yet.



I have a trip coming up in a week, I'm going to be pulling heavy (14K) to Laughlin and back (southern cali).

I have gauges and will watch them closely (not over 1400°F preturbo right?)



If I ordered now, it wouldn't come in on time without having to pay an additional $100 bucks to expidite, so I know I won't have it for this trip.



Question: How bad do I need the 4"?

What is your current exhaust like??? You should not have any problems. . and you have gauges..... I could hit 1300 stock. . but with a little timing help from the EZ you will be fine... I used to always pull loads close to the same weight... with the Comp on 3x5... with my DDIII's and the box off, I have no problems with stock 3in pipe and a sorry flowmaster muffler... ( usual haul on level 1, but have to watch the gauges) Not sure how you will do when you start going up in elevation...

Not to talk you out of the 4in exhaust. . but I think it is way overkill for just an EZ. . but a start for other mods later...

With just the EZ on the truck, I see you have the BHAF and you took the muffler off, you will be fine.

I have the stock exhaust minus a muffler. Love the straitpipe sound!
