Carter 4600 Fuel Pump

I bought a 4600HP carter fuel pump in December of 2001 to use it as a pusher pump and it stop working today. I thought Carter made a better fuel pump than that. I would think that it would last longer than a year.



Is there another pump that I can buy that will last longer than a Year? I hate to put a carter back on and then a year later have to buy another one.

It would sure be interesting to determine the CAUSE of the failure - electrical? Mechanical? Does it still run, just no fuel flow? Could the small internal filter screen be plugged? If you get a chance to check it out, a follow-up would be helpful...



But yeah, we're ALL still looking for that "perfect" and indestructable pusher pump...

There is a clicking sound coming from the pump,but It will not run. When I change it out I will take a better look at it.
