We know the stock lift pumps on our 24 valve trucks circulate diesel fuel thru the pump motor via the pressure bypass valve assembly, and the stock pump is obviously designed to live in that environment - but what about the Carter 4601's some of us use in pusher installations - do they also circulate fuel thru the motor as well? Anyone had one apart to check out the bypass routing? Seem like the 4601's are used in gas rigs as well as our diesels, and sorta wonder about the possibility of internal sparking/explosion in gas applications, and if Carter routes fuel flow differently in those pumps?
