2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Carter lift pump help.

Hi! I was wanting to know the best and easiest way to hook up the Carter Rotary lift pump. My old lift pump still works but I was wanting to add this as a back up system. Do I need to run separate wires and a switch to power the pump? Do I need to put a valve where it can be closed to switch from one pump to the other? I just need a little help. Thanks for your time.
