Carter P4601HP "Competition Series Black Pump"

I recently installed the lift pump relocation kit (2001.5 model) and used a new pump that had been in my storage for a few years. It's working great. However, I recently ordered another for a spare. I found that Summit Racing is advertising their Carter P4601HP as a "Competition Series Black Pump". I received delivery of it today. If my memory serves me correctly, the box this came in is larger and weighed noticeably more than the pump I just installed. So, the question is, What is the difference if any in design, build, and most of all specs of this pump if it differs from what may be the "standard" P4601HP ?

Sounds interesting though you'll probably have much better luck gettng the important details by calling Summit or Carter and asking them .

OK, I called Summit Racing and Carter's technical line. I have not received an email reply that I mentioned earlier. I spoke to Mack at Summit Racing and he looked into the specs and could not conclude if there were any changes made. I then called Carter's Technical line and spoke to Randy. He says there is no difference in the specs from the older pump that I happened to have on the shelf, versus the recent P4601HP "competition series black pump" that I bought. I am still thinking the one just mentioned weighed more, but maybe I'm wrong. Also, Mack and I were puzzled as to why they would advertise a pressure of 9-16psi and later say the working pressure is 6psi. I asked Randy about that and he concluded that is with a regulator. The naming "Competition Series Black Pump" seems to have came from Carter, and not a special order from Summit. I'm not sure I was speaking with a senior tech at Carter, but this is the information I received.

Weight by hand...?? I already had the other one installed, so do not have the 2 side by side to weigh them. However, I just weighed the new one box and all "Competition Series Black Pump" = 3.692 lbs.
