I have a Carter pusher pump on my truck which has worked well for the past 40,000 miles except for a couple of blown fuses. It has always had a pretty loud sound to it until the past few days now you can just barely here it running, even when you first turn the key before you start the engine it is hardly noticable, where it used to be real loud. Does this mean it is getting ready to quit? I have already ordered another one which should be here tomorrow. If you think it is going bad should I go ahead and put the new one on right away or do you think the old one will last a while longer? Thanks for the info!!!

Wonder if it has come loose from its mount? The relatively solid mount to the frame most of us use CAN make a lot of racket - and if the old one DOES fail you can count on VERY little fuel flow thru it - essentially stopping you dead in yer tracks!

Thanks Gary, checked to see if the mount was lose, it wasn't. I guess I will go ahead and put the new one on tomorrow, you are right when you say you won't get far when it quits because when I blew the fuse once I only got as far as I could coast. Hopefully I can get another 100 miles out of it until tomorrow.

Cory,

I wouldn't replace it, without first checking your fuel pressure. Even if its good I would spend the $70 to have a spare from summit.
