15 w 40 in gas motors??

Does diesel need a stabilizer for long-term storage?

Have used Castrol Tection Extra with excellent oil sample results in the past. I have six gallons of straight GTX diesel oil for my next two oil changes. It is CJ-4 and meets CES20081, so I have no worries about quality. BP makes Castrol and was surprised it wasn't the new CK-4 oil since the manufacture date was 06 March 2017.

While were on the trying subject-----
Has anyone tried the new C-4 Delo 400? Walmart in now exclusive with it. Sams club still has the CJ4 in 3 gal boxes.
just wondering.

I have 3 gallons of the new Delo 400 CK4 15/40 sitting on the garage floor ready for my oil change in the next few days when I get around to doing it. Delo and all other oils meeting the specification for our trucks are fine to use, and are pretty much commodity status, if you are changing your oil at recommended intervals. Where the issue of this oil vs. that oil comes into play is where guys are doing extended oil change intervals based on Oil sampling.

The Delo 400 SYN 5/40 comes out this summer for your winter oil change.

At the price Walmart is offering for this oil, IMHO, it's silly to use anything else, as long as you are doing oil changes at the recommended interval.

Bought 5 gallons of Mobil Delvac 1300 this week for $6 a gallon. Price matched Walmart's $10.97 a gallon price at Pepboys (all auto stores price match from my experience) and applied for $5 a gallon rebate online with Mobil (Walmart isn't an approved retailer for rebate). With a Fleetguard LF16035 filter, an oil change runs me about $30. That is what an oil sample costs. I am more concerned with removing combustion contaminants, fuel, water and wear metals than monitoring my TBN level for extended drain intervals. TDR issues 57 and 76, written by Robert Patton and John Martin, have me convinced that today's diesel oil is all pretty much the same. Yes, synthetic oil is a better product, but your Ram manual will instruct you to drain at six months whatever you pour in.

Bingo. That's what I was getting at but worded much better by yourself.
