I have a 97 with the cat converter and Calif. EGR. Would like to loose both of them. What's the best way, is there a replacement pipe for the converter, etc. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks, Rick
Rick, Converter test pipe from dealer. (do a search for converter test pipe to determine part number. ) As for the EGR, 1) obtain a federal intake manifold from dealer or 2) intake from Diesel Dynamics in Las Vegas. Block off the EGR port on the exhaust manifold with a plate. Can be made out of 1/8 " steel plate. Be sure that you save all of the parts so you can put them back on "after you finish testing all of these components ". After all I would not reccomend doing anything that might make your truck not comply with any smog control standards .
