CAT Diesel help

Can you guys point me in the right direction to get my 3126 Cat (275 hp),turned up. I know I can go to catapillar and pay about $1k for their program. But am looking for a cheaper way to turn up the hp to 300 plus ( or higher). It is in a Frieghtliner FL70, with a allison 6 spd..... thanks... .

The 3126 in the newer trucks is a HEUI engine which means hydraulicly accuated, electronicly controlled, unit, injector.
I beleve that software is about the only way to increase HP. Is it still under warranty?
You have to have factory codes to change any setting that pertains to fuel setting or engine RPM. I'm pretty sure about this, I work at a Cat dealership and will ask one of the truck guys about this to be for sure. I don't know much about the 3126 because all i deal with is the eguipment and they have not started using them there. Cat is going to do away with the HEUI fuel system, or so rumor has it. Be sure you keep your oil changed every 250 hours. hours is a more accurate way to keep track because it accounts for idle time.

The only way to do it is thru the dealer. The ECM will have to be flashed, and fuel settings changed. This will have a $900. 00 charge from CAT if the engine is still under factory warranty. You can go up from 275 to 300 without any iron changes. And deppending on the SN# of you engine, you can go to 330 without any iron changes. SN# 7AS000695- will reqiure a turbo. SN# 7AS32637+up reqiures only flashing the ECM. You need to check and make shure the transmission will take the 860 torque of the 330. Your 275 can be set to 800 or 860 torque, so if the torque is already at 860, the 330hp will be O. K. . On the 300hp, the torque can be set to 800 or 860 like the 275hp. Also CAT is not doing away with the HEUI injection system, they will be putting it in thier bigger over the road truck engines by the end of the 3rd quarter of 2003.

Thanks for the help guys. Dogman, what do you thing the torque of this engine is now? It is rated at 275hp, but not sure of the torque.

raw, we've been over this before with our resident CAT guru... you will be spending big money at the dealership for 25hp, and no they will not go beyond 300... nor will you find anyone outside the dealership to even touch the motor! Apparently, it isnt one of CAT's better ideas, and things come apart when the motor is taxed. The comperable 8. 3 Cummins is a different story... easy to bomb, wont come apart, cheap parts and much better mileage... . sorry to say...

raw, I could only guess at the torque rating wihtout hooking to the ECM and reading it from there, or you could give me your engine SN# and AR# and I could look it up, but just
guessing, since its an automatic I would say
it is 800. P. S. I never found the truck, I could not make it past the Hooter girls!
