I have a 95 4x4. I removed the cat & muffler and put on a WALKER muffler and brought the exhaust out in front of the rear wheel. Love it - sounds great but I have a smell when the motor is hot that comes threw the heat vents. (IT SMELLS A LITTLE LIKE PROPANE). WHEN I RAISED THE HOOD IT WAS COMING FROM AROUND THE TURBO. What would get rid of this smell? Could the turbo need a cleaning?

Sounds like its just the muffler and pipe burning off anything it might have on it. I got the same smell when I had mine straight piped. It should go away in a couple of days.
Sounds a lot better anyways!!

I did'nt notice any unusual smell from my exhaust after I went to a straight through system, so it could just be manufacturing oil burning off of the new components. The diesel exhaust smell itself reminds me of the old days when I used to drive a Cummins-powered 1972 Peterbuilt, hauling supplies over the Rockies. Tell me more about the Walker muffler.
