I am new to the TDR so please bear with me. On cat kill'in, do ya just punch it through and put it back or punch it and fit a tube in it to have a smooth flow? Also what (if any) is the purpose of going from 3" to 4" in the last couple feet of pipe? Looks impressive does it do squat? Can't imagine.

I think it's better to remove the cat and replace with a piece of pipe. You will need pipe,a reducer and a couple of clamps,I got mine at Napa for less than $20. If you remove the cat using a oxy/ace torch to heat the ends red and wiggle it a bit it will come out easy and reusable if you ever need to put it back in. Installing a larger exhaust pipe won't help much unless you get rid of the stock muffler by either running a straight pipe or installing a free flowing muffler. Then it will make a noticeable difference.

What muffler would breathe well enough for the 973# monster. Do those vendors have one that works? I'll give the dough if it will make it go!

Statland,I used the Banks muffler and 4"tailpipe. While expensive they are lifetime warranted all stainless steel. Another advantage for you is their factory is just down the 210 in Azusa. There are many other exhaust systems out there that will do just as well,I like Banks for their high quality and perfect fitting no welding install.

While your at it check into their Stinger Plus system,it comes with the exhaust system and much more. I added the Stinger Plus to my '95 3500,and pull 25k+ loads continuously, don't feel I need any more power at all, plus increased my mpgs by 2 with load.

We have been through this a few times. Basically 3" is enough up to around 350-375 hp. The Walker 21468 muffler is not real quiet but much quieter than none. You might also go to the TDR homepage, feature articles, then air+fuel=power for some background.
