I was wondering if the cat is out is it better for towing?I already have the muffler delete (straight piped)? Is there any back pressure needed?

I can't say it was any better other than slightly lower EGT's. You'll know it when you hit a hill with a good load and that sucker starts barking at ya, MUCH louder IMO.

My truck was ordered from AZ, 03. 5 HO, and it had no CAT from the factory. I wish it did because my truck smells like a old dump truck compaired to the same models with a CAT. They really do work to clean up the smell. I removed the muffler and added the straight pipe from Geno's. Sounds like a 18 wheeler big-rig, I like that. There is zero backpressure with no CAT and muffler, plus the engine RPM's quicker. I did all this before I added the EGT so I dont know by how much lower the EGT's became doing this. The highest number I ever got was 1150 F pulling a 18' box trailer, 7,000 lbs up the very high and steep grades in CO, 11,000 feet at 55 MPH in 5th. EGT probe is 4" from the outlet of the head.

I believe cats were on the 12 valves then when the 24 valves came out there was no more cats until 2004. 5 when they appeared again
