CAT power up??

I am looking at purchasing a 94 chevy 6500 with a CAT 3116 @170 HP and 485 ft. tq I plan on plowing with it and am looking to tune it a bit say 200 + 520 ish?? That is my goal any ways I've looked through TDR and was curious as of who else you may be able to suggest?

I already would own it if it was a CUMMINS but youve gotta think on a CAT:-laf

mechanical injectors or the heui injectors? either way new higher hp injectors will help out in the power department. that lil' 3116 is capable of 300/700+ in truck form, and 350hp in marine form

How did they make the HT? thats what I realy want is torque!!!thank you very much I will look into injectors from CAT and others for CAT. Thanks again

Be prepared, if it says CAT it'll be expensive. You can get reman. injecters from aftermarket suppliers, at least for the 3500 series. That should save you some money.

What dos this chevy have for a transmission?

Crank up the power..

Hey this is my first post!!





It is really easy to get more power from the 3116. Seeing that it is a 94 it should be a straight mechanical system.



Under the Valve cover near number one injector you will see a red or yellow lock tag, may have been removed at one time if someone has worked on the top end of the motor.



Remove the bolt and little cover plate. Under there the is a 3mm allen with a 10 mm lock nut. There is a special tool for this but you can do it with a deep socket and a allen wrench.



I will have to double check this but I believe that turning it in will increase the fuel setting. One turn is allot of fuel.



Thats all there is to it. Can make 300 HP this way.

May not get that truck my friend Mike just was given a 1980 Ford 750 24000gvw with a 460 gas mated to a 5 spd eaton with a 2 spd rear and air brakesOo. the kodiak was $20K this Ford is $1K and it comes with a parts truck. I am thinking I'll drop a 89-91. 5 Cummins 5. 9L from a Dodge in it and then tweek a real engine. Banks power pack put it to-224hp+660ft-tq. then"adjust" the pump!Have one hell of a dump truck!! 5inch dual stacks. Oo. :--) OHHH. can't waitOo.

let's not forget cat's strict warranty rules for "turn ups" if they dont do it, good luck. all of those tags serve a purpose when the cat techs look under the hood for an engine problem. we take our 3126 for all of cat's service requirements for a good reason. i'd rather pay them big bucks for service that we could easily do ourselves, than face them in court in the event of an engine failure. read the service and maint contract before you even consider shadetreeing any upgrades...
