Members and guests,

I am not happy with the furnace in my RV. I have noticed that most on the heat is exhausted outside as part of the process of being safe to operate. Check for yourself when your furnace is running there is lots of heat that goes outside. I have been considering a catalyic heater similar to the Olympian.

What are the members experience with catalyic heaters?

Olympic Wave Heater

I have a small olympic wave catalytic heater in my cabover. It always lights off, and has absolutely no smell whatsoever. The only gripe I have is that it has only two settings, low and hi, and the manual says to not place the selector between these settings. So, very often, I'm either burning up, or a bit too chilly.

Elk hunting in the mountains in October, the low setting is just right (outside temp around 15 F. But I wish there was a better regulator set-up. I only use the high setting to warm up the camper in a hurry. It's way too hot for sleeping.

It takes up very little room too--that's important in the tight quarters of a cabover truck camper.

The Olympian cat heater is real popular up here. I have seen many installed and have never heard a bad word about them.

Happy camping and ventilate when using a cat heater.

my previous trlr had a cat heater. 3 settings. low med hi. great job. low fuel usage. sometimes it got to hot[on hi],,,or toocold. [onlow]

my present trlr when i got it didnt have a cat htr. the furnace worked well but used excessss fuel and batttery. i installed a cat htr w/ a thermastat. efficient and temps stay juuuuuuust,,right

the cat htrs are worth the money
