Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) catalytic converter

Is that a catalytic converter I saw in front of the muffler?

No it is a resonator, basically an open chambered muffler.

What year truck.........

And where are you located? The 02 Kalifornia trucks had a Cat again. I think the other 49 were resonators. I think all the 12 valves had cats too.
