Ya ever want to ask a simple question but don't want to start a whole new Thread???

Let's use this to do just that. Stuart's Thread seems to have turned into a catch all and was very informative and also entertaining! :D

So I will start out by asking if anyone has seem this before??

I took off the other day and got thru a couple stop signs and about 1/4 mile and I looked and found this. I hit my up/down and forward/backward buttons. NOTHING would clear this message. For some reason I set the cruise control and WA-LA everything went back to normal. Drove around for about an hour that day with several engine shut down and re starts.

Question, I have a couple Mag Hytec rear diff covers that came off my 11 and my Dad's 12 DRW RAM's. They have the Geno's special sight glass. My friend just bought a 13 DRW with 3.42's will those covers fit his truck?

I think the concern with the 2014's is the 4 link style rear and the bar that goes across from one side of the frame to the other might not have clearance and hit the cover during motion? I haven't really looked under the new 14+ trucks to verify though just what I've seen driving around and other trucks in the parking lots.

As far as the rear air goes it might be because of the way the brackets are for the rear air and don't they attach too the cover bolts? Not sure cause I again I haven't looked in person just pictures and reading.

I just looked at my diff. The bracket on the upper left is for the brake lines. So I really don’t understand why it won’t work on my DRW with aluminum cover and rear air ride. I just know that was the consensus at the time I bought my 15.

When did they go to the larger ring gear on the max tow 3500 dualies? Watching Gale Banks video on diff covers show that here is a lot of science to the fluid flow in the diff.

The larger ring & pinion wasn’t exclusive to the Max Tow vehicles.

2013 & newer 3500 AS69RC DRW’s with 3.42, 3.73, and 4.10 axle ratios all had the 11.8” / 300 mm axles.

As i read only the max Tow had 16 ring gear bolts, all others stayed with twelve.
2019 is now a whole new story with the 12" ring gear.

I just bought a set for my 2004.5 and got the 11.8 ring gear with 12 bolts.

I am going to call Maghytec Monday to see what they say about my rear air and the two covers I have setting at home.

Even if the Maghytec will fit my truck I am not sure I will change.

This looks just like any other of this era.

Watch Gale Banks diff cover video again and compare the OEM shape to his and then the MagTech cover. You will most likely want to stay OEM.

Yes, I have watched it. That's why I mentioned "I am not sure I will change"

So I may have one and possibly two Geno's special sight glass covers for sale.

Don’t forget to put the banks factor into those videos. They are marketing videos after all, ones that I think induced a suit... but it’s been a while.

That being said a MH cover on my 05 is a mod I won’t be repeating. I’d consider the OE finned cover, but I don’t want to make the fluid too cold. The 05 would take 50 miles to get warmed up and settled into actual cruise mileage with all the extra diff and trans fluid. I figure Ram put the R&D into this truck at the components get a higher GCWR than I have.

I only put the afe cover on mine cause I won it in a raffle with the fluid of my choice. That was almost 27k miles ago so I'll be changing the fluid out again and probably going back to my factory no fin style and 4qts.
