Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) catcher & smarty

Ok I've done a lot of research and I need somebody to give me the clear cut details on all this. Explain to me what the catcher does what the smarty does and the kind of power I will gain. I understand the responsiveness and spool up, but what about HP? I have the drag comp so would i best off to get the catcher that is programmed for the comp, or just trash the comp idea. Does the smarty work with the comp? I think I have the basic idea on how this works, but not sure. I just need some clearing up. Thanks

Catcher is old school. It was a reprogrammed ECM but you had to send your ECM to Marco so he could massage the power out of it. Smarty is the new wave. It contains all the goodness Marco put into each Catcher but allows you to download many variants of the Catcher software from the comfort of your own driveway. Smarty works fine with the drag comp on the even numbered softwares. As for the horsepower gains, it is probably similar to the EZ.

Catcher was custom software. It was just one program, tailored to your truck. You had to send off your ECM to get programmed.

Smarty is a programmer that contains TEN different Catcher softwares inside it, plus dianostic trouble code reader and ABS adjustment (to correct speedo).

The Smarty allows you to program your own ECM with any of 10 different softwares instead of sending it off to have ONE custom software version installed. Then it adds the other functions as well.


The software increases performance, plain and simple. POwer comes on VERY soon and doesn't let up. It has the best bottom end response of anything on the market-- by far. .

With the Smarty you can re-program back to stock just as easy as any of the other programs. So you get good performance except when you truck is at dealers for warrantee issues.
