I have read on this board lately from many different people to use transmission fluid to prime the lift pump and VP44 pump after a filter change.
Do not use transmission fluid to prime the fuel system!! The anti-wear additives can damage and inevitably destroy the VP44 injector pump.
The 12 valve trucks can use transmission fluid but not the 24 valve trucks. The tolerances are too close on the VP44 injector pumps.
