Looking at an upcomming installation of a CB in the Dodge, and have a delema. My shop door is about 8' tall and I don't want my antenna to bend and scrape on the roll-up door and ceiling. I have a cab high shell and have been tossing around the idea of a mount on the drivers side of it (it's fiberglass) and adjusting it down when I park inside.

Is there an automatic antenna out there for CB's? I would hate to have to invent one but might have to start looking at that avenue.

Do any of you guys have ideas?

Thanks, Steve.

Why don't you just install one of those cool quick releases that are out. It's neat,1/4 turn and pull the antenna off.

I know K-40 and Firestick both make quick releases. Have used both models before, both are excellent. The only thing i dont like about quick releases are they make it easy for thieves to steal your antenna too.

I used a fire stick fender mount and a glass 3' K-40. When I pull in the garage it bumps the trim around the door but that is all. I have a good standing wave since the coil is at the top of this antenna and get out as well as anyone else.

Heetseeker_1: This same question was asked not too long ago. If I remember correctly, no one knew of an automatic retract antenna at that time. However, search the lists just to be sure. In addition, and more importantly, here are some posts by Pete Peterson from the Product/Accessories Forum. You will find a wealth of great information on CBs, antennas, and mounting options.
