I had two radios I wanted to mount in easy reach.

I cut a nice piece of 1" ply to fit under the front middle seat, between the inner legs of the front driver's and passengers' seat.

Cut it to the contour of the transmission tunnel and such.

Bolted it between the inner front legs of the driver's and passenger seats.

I used slotted black aluminum flat plates to make the two sides, and bolted those two pieces to the plywood that's now under the middle seat.

I made a hole in that plywood piece to run the coax and power to the radios.

Mounted the radios to the slotted sides.

And that's it, very clean and adjustable mounting options.

I could level off the faces of both radios, and tuck them up close to the seat right by my right hand.

CB Idea

I HAD to install my old CB to talk to a few friends when we are travelling together so I found a piece of scrap wood which is probably 9" wide and a couple of feet long and mounted the CB to one end and the other end will be held in place by folding the back of the middle seat down. This way I can remove it in a flash. I use a magnetic antenna also. The wood is what less-expensive cabinets are made of so it is finished on all sides. Works for me and it doesn't interfere when I'm shifting.

Quick and cheap.

I used a hump mount but a friend mounted his on the roof. I know that on the older Dodges there was metal and a couple of inches below that another layer of metal so when he drilled for using sheet metal screws he only had to go through the first layer. A lot of the semi drivers that own their own mount on the under roof for lack of a better word. Some cut a piece of plywood about the size of the CB and mount the plywood and then mount the CB bracket to the plywood.
