I recall some info on this but have been unable to find it. Seems some brought the Coax cable in through a grommet on the fire-wall and some through a rubber grommet in the floor board. I have been unable to locate either. I am installing the antenna behind the cab, running Coax under the truck and would prefer to come through the fire-wall instead of having to run the coax under the carpet. Using a cobra 75 WX ST so wont need much room under dash. Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks:: Bob (this is an 03)

I copied the floorboard grommet posted by someone else earlier, and the under console mounting for the 75 WX ST posted by someone else earlier. Pics, with some explanation, are in my reader's rigs albums.

Same Problem

I spent the day looking under the truck for a convien't place in the firewall to poke a coax 58 U through but didn't have any luck. . I have a cb and a FM to string up . any help would be appreciated . . tks bill

Must be diffrent on the autos. Mine (5-speed) has a big rubber plug close to 2" dia, right where the clutch pedal hits the firewall. It's pretty obvious so if you had it I'm sure you would have seen it.

Same as Sradke, right where the clutch pedal is on the firewall. I ran gauges through there and will run my cb cables, tonight, as well. All the room you need, just watch that they clear the clutch pedal, if you have the handshaker.

On my 98 I drilled a small hole at the back of the cab under the bed at the curve of the cab, fitted an appropriate size gromet from ACE, and threaded the coax. Ran the cable under the plastic step tread to the front seat and over to the radio. Added a crimp on connector from Radio Shack. Worked perfectly with no leaks or problems for 3 years.

Would do it again in a heartbeat if I could find a suitable mounting bracket for my 03. Where, and how are you guys mounting the radio in the 3G?

CB radio install

Hey I have a BGBW wunder mount and my antennae is mounted off the left side of the hood, I ran the coax down between the door and fender thru an unused grommet, you can see it when the door is open and you have to remove the kickplate next to the Ebrake to help feed the coax up thru the dash. Sorry dont have photo's, hope this helps.

Check out my readers rigs album. There are pictures of the CB mounted in the cab as well as the antenna bracket outside.

CB Mount

Scott, did you have to drill for the bolt hole on the antennae mount? I mounted mine back near the hood hinge, there is a fender bolt that can be removed and the mount can be installed. It looks real nice because almost even with the radio antennae, plus no holes had to be drilled.

Thanks for the pics, guys. Funortunately my brake controller occupies the spot under the dash, and I'm afraid it gets priority. I was hoping for a bracked like the one we had for the 2ndG truckes.

FWIW, I previously use a Wilson antenna with magnet mout on the rear of the cab roof. Great range, and it made it easy to find the truck in the Safeway lot. I usually go in one door, and come out another and get myself lost.

CB mount

I recall seeing an ad in one of the TDR magazines of a cb mount that mounts in front of the middle fron seat. Does anyone have this setup and know who to order it from? Can't find my back issue that has the ad. thanks

Yes there was a fender bolt already there. I just removed it and put the bracket underneath. I saw the bolt further back but chose the forward one. I believe being farther forward the hood plane decrases signal breakup

Charliep: There is plenty of room on the knee bolster for both. Only catch is your brake controler has to move to the left side.

Randy: I saw the bracket you're talking about but I can't remember where. I'll try to dig it up if I can get my memory to function here this morning.
