Just looking for some ideas on how & where you guys have mounted a full-size CB in the cab. Thanks in advance.

I mounted my Midland Weather Band CB to the left of the SRS box. The whole bottom of the dash has a metal base that makes for a great mounting platform. My microphone mount is screwed to the ash tray for easy reaching. If I were to remove the CB and replace the ash tray you'd never know there was a CB was in the cab. To the left of the CB is my brake controller. This allowed me to avoid drilling holes in the visable area of the lower dash plastic...

Mounted mine out of the way under the center seat. I am not a CB junkie, so I set it on the channel I want and leave it there. The only indication that I have a CB onboard is the antenna. Use it only when traveling. Works for me #ad

Guys, a couple of items. First, posting photos of your installation (if posible) would be a great help to those looking for ideas. Second, Mike Brolin has agreed to start making his custom mount for TDR members again!!! This is fantastic news!! Unfortunately, I gave up on being able to get one of Mike's brackets, so I rigged my own installation last weekend. Looks fine and will probably work just great. Now I find out Mike is going back into the bracket making business. Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesz, I'm always behind the eight ball #ad
I'll post photos of my installation as soon as I can borrow my friends digital camera. Until then, here is the link where Mike announced he was going back in business.

You guys that get Mike's mount will be getting a fine product, no holds barred!!

I have a Motorola Spectra Locomotive cab radio mounted in my truck. The radio is about 6" high, 14" wide and 18" deep. I made a metal bracket and i have it mounted to the floor with the display level with the top of the center seat. I only let girls sit in the center seat and they are small enough that there legs are not in the way of the radio, they just fit right over the top of it. This was the only place i could mount a radio that big. As far as a CB, my guess would be you could do it the way i have it, or the easiest thing to do is get one of those CB's where all the controls are in the handset. They are not as nice as one of the decked out Cobra's but they sure solve alot mounting issues.

I mounted mine in the dash. I have a 6-speed. The autos have the fold-down drink holder, the manuals have a little pocket there. I removed the pocket and made two brackets out of 1/8" X 1 1/2" steel. All I did was heat them up and bend them to the desired shape, and bolted them to the metal dash supports that run horizontally behind all the plastic dash parts.

You didn't mention your gear box in your sig. If you have an auto, and don't want to remove your drink holder, or don't want to remove the pocket, then do a search. Mike Brolin used to make a bracket that mounted to the floor, and came up in front of the center seat. I thought about making one to mount there, but you will probably lose your drink holder if you have the stick-shift.

I had an auto in my 2000 Ram. I didn't know about Brolin's bracket back then. In that truck I mounted it under the steering column using the existing screws. I really didn't like that location, tho. I like the location it's in now. It looks like it was meant to be there, and I don't miss the pocket that was there.

Questions? email me.

My cousin and I mounted our RCI 2950's on the ceiling right in the center just back from the two front cab lights and consol. It's right there handy and easy to read. My radio is larger than a regular CB so this was the best location we could come up with and not be in the way of passengers. The only problem I can see is the heat up that high. I guess I will find out this summer when and if the wax on some of the parts inside starts running out. Anyone else try this??

Dont forget there are a lot of mounting systems at www.galls.com. While most people don't need a system for 3 or 4 gadgets like me it does porvide some more options.

David,
I would post a photo if I had a digital camera but I don't. I will shoot one with my regurlar camera and when I get my roll developed I will scan it and let you know. Might be a few weeks.

I mounted my full size Cobra 29 Nightwatch right up against the middle seat along with a metal bracket I made. I'll try and get some pics sent out. Good Luck
