Not sure if i have the right forum but... .

Im a retard when it comes to CBs. Looking to get something for my truck to help "regulate" my speeds on the highway and possibly take up some time on trips. What would you suggest for a 200-300 dollar budget. Id like to be able to recieve and send as far as possible and still be clear. Im not above buying used so possibly a more expensive setup that would be readily sold in used form.

We use uniden pc68xl radios in our trucks they seem to be pretty good. Galaxy radios are real nice thats what we used to have in all the trucks till we got robbed one nite and they hit every truck.

Gotta love people that would rather steal vs work for thier stuff. That sucks. What model Galaxy were you using. Im seeing about 7+diff ones. Thanks for the input thus far.

I just bought a Cobra 29 wx nw st on EBay for $113 (shipping included), then a Wilson 1000 magnetic mount for $75 (shipping included). Should be a pretty decent radio and a good antenna. Just have to find a place to mount it

Talk to your local CB repair guy before you buy. Usually one located at or near truck stop. Some radios can be "tuned", some can't. Get one that can be tuned and get it set up before you install. I had one of the Cobras that all the controls are in the mike and it didn't cut it for me, I now have a 29 classic, "tuned" and it does a good job. Just my $. 02 worth. bg
