I just installed my CB the other day and am running two co-phased Wilson fiberglass antennas mounted to the tool box. With the truck off the radio works fine but as soon as I start it, I get a lot of static, it is pretty bad and I have to turn the scwelch up pretty far to be able to tolerate it. I have the power hooked up through a ignition hot painless wiring kit. I don't know much about cbs but swr is good (1. 5) and was wondering what options I have to eleminate it or at least make it better. Do they make filters that can help this? I'm thinking the problem is the FASS since when the pump kicks on for a second before I start it, I get the static for that second when the FP gauge jumps up and then constantly when the truck is running. Sometimes it seems worse than others. Any help would is appreciated. Thanks

Common problem with DC brush motors - arcing at the motor commutator causes it - DC builds spark suppressors right inside their stock lift pumps. Place a . 01 disc capacitor directly across the power leads into the motor - probably clean it right up - it is NOT a problem with the pump, simply common electrical function...
