I'm considering the Midland 79-290 because it is the only CB with sidebands that I have found that also has the weather channels. Based on the Midland spec sheets, it appears to be a top of the line unit, but hey, what Manufacturer wouldn't claim the same? I wish I could find a unit with scanning also.
I'd like to hear some opinions on Midland quality, other units I should also be considering, where folks mount their units, and any other comments you think would be helpful to someone new to the CB arena.
Thanks in advance!

HC, I sell the "export" radios and amplifiers. I used to advertise in the TDR's(potential business) then they went to ads on the site only. Long story short, my puter crashed, and I didn't renew my ad.

The export radios will give you more channels (privacy), more options of "mode of transmission"(AM/FM/SSB), and more power.
Some of the "ham type" radios DO scan, but don't get weather band.

If you know exactly what you want, e-mail me and I'll reply with a price. I can tell you right now, I don't sell brands like "Midland, Cobra, etc. "

I've got "Galaxy, Superstar,Mirage, Texas star, Boomer, Palomar, TNT, etc. etc. "
I do not stock these, so you'll always getting the "newest stock" possible. I don't do this for a living, and I don't have a big mark up on them. I do this as a hobby.

If you e-mail me, please give me a few days. I work really wacky hours, and don't get a chance to go on the computer nearly as much as I'd like. HTH

Stay away from Midland, Cobra. If you just want a straight CB, go with a Galaxy. If you want MORE of everything, go with an "export" radio. Not much more $$ either. Again, stay away from Midland, Cobra. You might even look at Uniden, which makes most CB radios for everybody else!

Hey CB experts, I just bought a cherokee cm-10 off a friend. I am not all that into CB's and I'm not interested in having the "biggest" "baddest" talker, but I was just wondering if anyone has seen these radios and know how good they are? It has lots of buttons and lights! It scans and has a bunch of memory crap and I think it has sideband(my friend may have had it BOMBed)

When I was looking for a CB, for my Ram, I just wanted it for emergencies and to get smokie reports. In the 1970's I was really heavy into CB's with side-band and using ham radio's for CB's, using linears up to 400 watts. Not into that anymore. I was told by many CB guro's to stay away from Midland, Cobra, and Cherokee (very low quality Cobra), and to look at Uniden because they make most of the CB's sold in USA. I settled for a PC78LTW, straight CB, no side-band, with weather channels and peaked to 28 watt swing. I am totally happy with this radio.

You also might want to look at Mike Brolin's CB mount for the Dodges. I got one and it is fantastic! Very reasonably priced and you'll never be sorry you got it! Do a search with either CB mounts (in search words)or with Mike Brolin's name (in user name).

I just purchased a "turbo tuned" Midland model #79-290 "face off" CB from www.exportradios.com I haven't had the time to complete the installation yet... soon I hope! #ad
Very trick! BTW, the guy I talked to at exportradios.com stated he favored the Midland #79-290 over the Galaxy (CB) models.

Didn't need the export radio... I'm not that into it. #ad

Patriot, I'd like to talk to you about a radio also. What's your email, or can you email me directly? Thanks.

I have a Uniden 2510 going to a Texas star 1200..... guess that's "signature worthy".
My e mail address is shooter7. 62mm@juno.com
Please give me time to answer, I work insaine hours, swing shifts etc. etc. Not much time for computering.
I'm just getting into this computer thing, and type real s l o w, so if you can find out what you want, then e mail me that would be good too.
What I'm trying to avoid is the 4 page reply letters. Takes me 1/2 or more to do a page.
Youre better off locally for the antennas, they kill me with shipping. #ad
