I am getting a CCD code displayed intermittently in my overhead console. A search of the TDR does not show a single post about this code. Does anyone know what this might mean?

Weird coincidence... I was changing the program in my truck with the Smarty yesterday and happened to look at the display and see CCd in the display! Not sure what it means, but it went away after the programming update.

Do you have any performance boxes? Maybe find a local with a Smarty and update your ECM.

There should be posts about it here I believe. It means that the overhead display cannot communicate with the PCM. Usually because of corrosion on the wiring or a bad ground.

I had the issue for about 6 months after I first bought my truck used. It would come and go and then it finally went for good. I didn't do anything to it, it just started working.

It is referring to the Chrysler Collision Data buss. That is the name of the computer system in your truck. What is is telling you is that there is no communication.

I'll go with MisKaya's explanation. I had a light switch in the OHC replaced last year at Frontier Dodge in Lubbock, TX. After their work, the light worked but the display started failing. I took it back and they 'fixed' it leaving greasy hand prints all over my headliner. Since that time, the OHC has been loose at the front. In addition to poor, sloppy work, I'd guess that the wiring is loose also.

My truck occasionally does this. This indicates a loss of comms using the Communicaitons Buss between the PCM and the overhead console. It can indicate a number of issues, ranging from failed devices (worst case) to loose wires. I am not 100% on this, but I believe the CCD buss is similar to a rs485 communications network (something like MVB or CanBuss).

I have found when this happens, that if I pull, clean, and reconnect the electrical connectors on the PCM (and the grounds) that the issue will go away.

The CCD is the twisted pair (i believe purple & white/black tracer). If you check with key on, you should have 2. 5 volts on each with the meter grounded. Actually 2. 2 to 2. 8 volts ok.

the 2. 5 volts comes from the instrament cluster and you can check the ODBII port (DLC) under the dash to verify it is working. I don't know the pin numbers - look them up.

The next step would unplug EVERY module connected to the CCD and check for no more than 5 ohms between the cluster plug and every device.

CCD modules: air bag, abs, body timer, overhead consol, radio, ecm, pcm & cluster.

you are looking for a shorted to ground or open.
