Trying to order a CCV filter & Genos is out of stock. Everywhere else, they're 50-75 bucks more. Found a few online that are down around $40 bucks. They look identical to the OEM ones. Has anyone had one & pulled it apart to see what's inside & if they're worth a crap? I don't go cheap on air, oil, & fuel filters, but since this one is basically just catching oily air, I was thinking it might be fine. Thoughts? Cheap okay in this case, or just go ahead & get the OEM?

We’ve been using the Baldwin CV15010 on the buses for the last six months. No issues and they’re costing half what the FG’s were.

With these filters unavailable, is there a way to clean them temporarily until they are?
Will truck derate if filter is not changed ASAP? Nothing in the book regarding what will happen if service is delayed. Thanks guys.

Not saying it can't be done, just never heard of anyone doing it and I wouldn't try it. Missing the interval won't cause an immediate issue and ultimately who really knows how long they will start causing problems. I know the sensors is sensitive down stream as I tried installing an oil catch can on my 2017 Ram 5500 and it kept setting a MIL, so removed it.

Us type A's can't miss an maintenance interval... Just bought a new MH with a Cummins 6.7L and already bought all the filters for it, even though some, like the DEF filter are way out there for replacement.

Bottom Line, at least for me, if I couldn't find a "DEAL" on a filter, I would buy it at the "FULL" price in order to keep everything on track.

Anyhoo, just my two cents on it.

Cheers, Ron

Unless one chooses to NOT deal with Amazon, there’s seven sellers with the Fleetguard unit I posted above ready to ship, ranging from $70 to $103 shipped.

And no.....there’s not a way to “clean” the CCV filter. The housing permanently “snaps” together. The media is saturated with oil vapors.

I found another thread yesterday where a guy actually did split his apart and removed the media.
I wouldn’t really want to do this, but it could be done.

Just changed mine , bouģht a Donaldson and you can always try truck repair and part places. I by all my oil and filters at an Internatioal truck dealer. Cheapest place and they are Fleetguard and Shell Rotella . Never checked the ccv filter because I wasn't near there when I bought it.

I imagine I stand corrected........with that being said, I’m sure his truck was deleted. Seems as if some of those with deleted trucks remove the media altogether.

I also am not going to pinch pennies and “skimp” on a $70 CCV filter in an attempt to “clean” it!!!!

I've used the ones from Dorman before and they worked perfectly fine.
If you just look around some, there are plenty of them available.

Is there a "re-route" kit for this filter, like a partial delete? Its filtering CC gasses prior to recirculating them. Can it just go back to venting them?

I changed mine at +/- 64500 miles which is 3000 earlier then required. Glad I did. It was saturated with oil. Noticeably heavier then the new replacement due to the oil soaked media.
