CCW class

Did my CCW class yesterday. Was well-presented, well-structured, and very informative. As of 1Oct2K1, our (Nevada) CCW laws get somewhat adjusted (for the better! ), and we had several students that were from California.



This particular class was at Nevada Pistol Academy, on Blue Diamond Road, in SW Las Vegas, and they sell firearms AT COST! The class is a freebie, except that you have to buy their ammo for the range (a $12 box of . 32 was $43)---hey, nothing's REALLY free or profitless, after all...

all the sales guys are certified trainers. No plaid jackets. For you way-outta-town visitors, the taxis can bring you and pick you up.

They're affiliated with "FrontSight" http://www.frontsight.com/home.html , too. and after the CCW class, you can get a certificate for a discount on one of their courses.





While I was there, I also rummaged thru the bargains, and scored an old EIG . 22LR single-action revolver that they had obtained from Nye County lockup... . $40, and it works! Even threw in an old holster for freebies Now, desert-snakes, beware! (not the 2-legged kind---it's just a . 22 for cryin out loud)

Not in Kaliforina

There's no way to get a CW Permit in Kaliforina,

You can't even have your front windows tinted because a cop got killed, After he stopped a car and tried to look in the tinted window the guy shot and killed him!! I Know only one person that has a cw- permit and she was a rape victum!

If I'm wrong please tell me I would love to get one for my Wife and I!! I think If we were all armed the world would be a safer place!!! Alot less car jackings!

I have a CCW for NY, but tough to get and very restricted as to why and when you can carry. The reasons are even listed on the permit as well as the pistol s/n's you own.

Yup, that's about what he said, except that there are some of the counties in California where he can get a CCW--- He lives in Los Angeles County, and that place is a NoGo, but he said San Bernardino Cty. does issue them, but only to a SBC resident.

His CCW(s) are, currently Utah (thru the mail), Arizona (go to Phoenix, but not real restrictive,and eventually, Nevada, when his paperwork completes out. ) They won't be considered legally valid in his home state, so how he gets to the state line is his problem, but they'd be OK when he's out and about.



I think, ol' buddy, yer probably stuck. Open carry's legal here, as in many places, but, the minute somebody gets a case of the Omygods, the cops show up, and cite ya for "disturbing the peace", and generally scaring the poop outta the "don't trust anybody with a firearm" crowd. For all intents and purposes, that negates the legality of the open carry.

There's just one solution:

Since a "conservative" is a "liberal who's been mugged", we need to arrange for lots of muggers to show up at Starbuck's, at the Soccer game, and at peace rallies, which will now be more numerous. --- Then, we'd get lotsa "converts", who would then push for interstate reciprocity, easy CCW's (or better yet, a Vermont-style Don't ask/Don't tell/Don't need paperwork CC situation)

I always thought CCW meant Counter Clock Wise, didn't think you needed a permit for it
