Well i went to put i an alpine cda 7897 and i hooked the harness up and everything and it turns on, just no sound comes out of the speakers, there are two wires that went on the stock deck that i didn't use, no place to plug them in, they are a black wire with a blue stripe that just went on a clip on the back of the stock one, and a two wire harness that i think went to the steering wheel controls, I have a 99 with the infinity stereo, anything i'm missing any and all help would be great thanks

Hey, you have the little brother to my stereo! they are awesome! I have the CDA7998... Anyways, if you do not have amps, just leave the wire disconnected from the radio to the harness. Also, the dimmer you do not need. . Basically you just need the 4 speakers, red, yellow, and black. That's it. No need for any other wires. The red is what turns your radio on and off when you turn the key. The yellow is for the memory, and black, is of course your ground. If you have amps, then run the amp wire back to your amp. you can also use the P. ANT wire for a signal wire. PM me if you have anymore questions. Your head unit is the one what can power the speakers. Mine has to have an amp or amps. You will be happy with that thing. Have you made any MP3 CD's for it? If not, you will be amazed when it plays. It takes a while to read the data, but once done, its awesome!

No you can't. Alpines have two blue wires, one's "Remote turn on" and the other's "P. ANT. " The "P. ANT" wire is only active in AM/FM modes, if you go to CD or CD-Changer modes it'll shut off, turning the amps off with it. You don't know how many people make this mistake. You need to use the Blue/White Remote wire for amps.

I knew that!!! :p Really I did!!! haha, thanks for the correction! I wasnt even aware of that. I have only taken the radio out once since I installed it in May. Now if I could only figure out how to edit the tags for my MP3's... Anyone got ideas?

found out why...

well i guess ih ave the factory system that has an amp, anyways i hooked the r. amp blue wire to the extra wire on the black harness, and bam instantly sound was heard, kinda weird, but it did work, sounds good and everything now, not bad for stocks, only when installing my guage pod a week ago, i broke the wires going onto the tweeter, so i have no highs on the drivers side sounds kind of weird, i guess i'll just go buy two decent tweeters haha anyways thansk for the info anyways
