Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) CEL code P1688

My 1999 2500 5spd had to get towed in today. It shut off while going down the road and would not restart. The CEL is on and the code reader says P1688. The factory service manual says "internal fuel injection pump controller failure. Did my VP44 just die or is this a repairable problem. Thanks, Charlie.

You will not be sorry buying a Blue Chip premium, I put one on my 99 5 years ago and performance went up and mileage went up and still no mods!! Just as his ads said it would! Last month I went over 1200 miles trip with no trailer and 22+ mpg and then tied small trailer with two 4 wheelers and hunting equip on and milage went down to just over 19.5 mpg with over half of that 200 miles were off road and some in 4X4 and with chains on!! Can't complain about that. Just turned 220Kmiles last week. 3 lift pumps, 1 VP-44, 1 alternator, 1 Starter rebuild (Larry B's) One NV 4500 at 195 K ( Lube issues--my fault) Oi/filter changes at 8-10K with Rotella t-6 syn and other routine stuff. Go Cummins!!
