CEL turned out to be P2262 code

Well my CEL turned out to be the dreaded P2262 code (44000 mi). Dealer did their sub diagnostics per TB and had to replace the turbo. No I'm considering disconnecting the EGR just so I don't soot up another one before the warranty runs out. .

3yr 36,0000 miles falls under chrysler's dime - engine & emissions

5yr 50,0000 miles falls under cummin's dime - engine & emissions

after that not sure the milage think it's 80k but only emissions

so at 44k getting a new turbo is a good thing as far as warranty is concerned

I've heard (maybe on a thread here) that its cheaper for them to just swap out a turbo or an egr valve whenever a CEL pops up than to risk a class action lawsuit if they fought the warranty claims. Maybe, but they have the replacement parts ready to go. Swapped out the turbo both times in a day and it takes the mechanic about 4 hours to replace the EGR valve, maybe less cause they changed the oil and fuel filter also same time. Nothing out of pocket so far except for the fuel filter.

I bought mine used so I sprang for extra coverage and full maintenance plan so I never have to dirty my fingers for a few years. The dealer here in Greenville is awesome.

The turbo is covered for 5 years or 100k miles under the Diesel Engine warranty.

The DPF is covered for 5 years or 100k miles under Diesel Engine Emissions warranty.

The EGR valve is covered under the 5 year or 100k Diesel Engine Emission Warranty, BUT... the EGR valve has a scheduled maintenance to be cleaned at 67,500 miles which is not covered under warranty.

The Cummins part is new to me. I don't believe that is correct.

There are a few things you can do, Oil changes and Clean Air filters are on the right track. Also fuel filters are very... VERY important.



"Driving it like you stole it" is not the answer though.



There are a few other things that you can do.



But since I haven't been on my "Soap Box" for awhile, I Think I'll start another thread so I can elaborate.

Try and prove it then... It is one of the most common falsities that Cummins warranties out motor, its just not true. Call Dodge and Cummins and ask. . There is nothing covered by Cummins on our trucks. The warranty is called "Cummins Diesel Engine Warranty", its a warranty on the Cummins engine, not a Cummins warranty. The agreement between Dodge and Cummins prohibits Cummins from working on the ISB built for Dodge trucks.

for what it is worth i talked to a tech that works at a cummins shop(semis)... i asked him if he could work on my 07. 5 if i needed it... his response was "not until the warranty is up"... he never fully explained but my understanding was that dodge was responsable for any possible warranty issues.

Almost all of the parts used to build Chrysler Vehicles are purchased from different Vendors and each vendor warrants the parts for defects in materials and workmanship. The reason that Chrysler prohibits Cummins Dealers from working on Dodge Built Trucks is Because of the Franchise Agreements it has with its own Dealers.
