Hi I have a 1998 Ram extended cab deisel 12 valve and it has a worn out center support bearing on the drive shaft. The last one I bought from the dealer was 140 bucks. The local NAPA dealer says he cant get one for my truck but I seem to have read that NAPA has one. Does anyone know the NAPA part # or Know some where else that I can get one cheaper? The Dodge # is 04773014.

Thanks, Fred

When I went to napa, their books didn't even have one listed for my truck. The books also said I only had two ujoints.

I went to bumper to bumper and got one there for under $30, it was a federal mogul part. It turned out to be the wrong part # after all. $140 is to much though. I would like to get the right part # as well.

I tryed to save some money a few years agoand used a aftermarket 30. 00 center bearing and it was a big waste of time. the rubber was to soft or somthing and it vibrated. So i gave my local 5 star the 138. 00 for the rite one and it works like new.

Do you get a loud clunk when the bearing is bad? I have a clunk in between shifts when I 'm getting on it hard and was wondering if it was the carrier bearing.

I don't hear a clunk, just a dry whiring of a worn bearing and an ocasional shudder when the clutch is released.

I checked the auto zone site and they list the same bearing (HB88107B) that the NAPA store keeps showing me, the one with the ears where the bolts go through. my bearing has about a one inch square section welded on top with two caged nuts, no ears. My service manuel says this bearing is used with Dana rear axles and is listed as a type 2 bearing. Had to order the bearing from dodge so I wouldn't break down but I will keep looking. Thank you guys, Fred
