Well it finally gave out today. Put a Centerforce II clutch in last year before I joined up with TDR. Called a few "high performance diesel shops" and that was their suggestion. After install it was a pain to get in 1,2 or reverse. Always seemed like it would not totally disengage. Called the "tech" at Centerforce a couple times and he said must be pilot bushing, throw out, fork, slave or master cylinder. Had replaced all of those. Then they said it must be synchro's, could'nt be had just rebuilt transmission. Had to later get a transmission from Standard Trans to cure 5th and the darn:mad: clutch still acted the same. Figured I would use it till it started slipping and then replace as I saved up for a new one.

Today that thing locked up in gear a few times and had to kill the motor to get it out of gear. Couldn't get in any gear unless I was stopped and motor turned off. Finally on the way to the shop it busted and could only hold at an idle. Called SBC and ordered a 13" Con OFE with the kevlar bushing. I sure hope this is the ticket. Can't afford to sit around when I get paid by the mile. Pulling the old peice of crap out tomorrow and will have the new one in when it gets here friday.

I'll never deal with another company I don't have to, that treats it's customers that way. Zero service and no desire to help remedy a design problem.

Ok, now that I've lost two trailer loads over to Texas and vented I'm ready to get back to work.

I hope the dark cloud of broken parts merely passes by you and doesn't hover for weeks on end like it does here. :)

I wish you the best of luck Paul.

As for the FE I hope I didn't order the wrong one. Peter was out today and I could'nt find the paper with what I had discussed with him last week. Sure would hate to eat 2nd day air.

Chris, had the transmission and transfer out so many times in the last year and a half we have it down to about 2. 5 hours. ;)

Since you tow and hot-shot with your truck for a living the OFE is the ticket. No more worries Dude.

Don~

Don't sweat it. The Con OFE is a good towing clutch up to 400 or 425 hp. One side is Organic the other is Feramic. It engages smoother than the FE, which is feramic on both sides.

well got it torn down and the clutch had broken the center out, many peices. Pilot bearing was nothing but a shell. Had just replaced it when I put the Standard Trans in a few months ago and the pilot I replaced was ok also. I'm assuming the pilot went first but could it be that the center had started to go and ate up the pilot?? Which came first... ... . ?

Input shaft had some minor scuffing and looks like it will be able to be buffed out. Looking forward to the SBC tomorrow and to be back on the road charging by the mile. ;)

I have the little con-ofe not the 13" upgrade. It is so far a great towing clutch very little or no chatter on take off or when backing up w/trailer:D I'm still under horsed (476hp / 1100ftlbs tq) but we're adressing that. This clutch has so far taken every thing I've thrown at it:D

I've been down the centerforce route (same results) with broken center/NO service/warranty:-{} :{

You did'nt go wrong with south bend or peter:D

The clutch comes with a replacement kevlar pilot bushing if your input shaft is gaulded it takes a little machining to install but works great with out the fear of bearing failure.
