Any TDRer's Have the Down Low on Grand Cherokee's?

story

My central air was put in in 1996 and the it is a Bryant,my question is do you guys cover yours in the winter?

I have never covered it yet because the place who installed it says covering them causes moisture, but when I started it up today it came on but the fan on top of the unit would not spin, but I went out and pushed it with a stick and it broke loose and would spin freely.

It is working great now but I am wondering if I should cover it next winter?

What do you guys do??

Thanks;)

I've never covered ours. The A/C for our current house is a heat pump, so we use it year round. You do want to make sure that it doesn't have a bunch of leaves and crap in it.

You might consider just covering the top, help keep leaves out but will let air circulate to prevent condensation in the off season. If that fan motor won’t start a second time you might have a bad capacitor.

Our has been covered every year since it was installed. In 1979 or so. No problems. We are getting a new one (and furnace) this summer.
