The next scheduled meeting of the Central Florida Turbo Diesel Rams is July 21, 2001. It will be held at the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Ocala, FL. Don Garlits has graciously allowed us to meet at his facility. There is ample parking for everyone. Shaded outside seating is available with lots of picnic tables. The museum is located just off I-75 at Exit 67. It all kicks off promptly at noon.

There will be several new products available for hands on demo and review. The new underseat storage drawer and the Auto Meter line of gauges will be there courtesy of Robin at Geno’s Garage. Another free raffle will be held and door prizes given away.

The museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm for your enjoyment. Adult tickets are $12. 00 for both the Antique Car Museum and the Drag Racing Hall of Fame. Children (5-12) tickets are $3. 00. Of course you can purchase a ticket for only one museum for $8. 00 but the combination ticket is the best deal (One admission ticket will be in the free raffle). Admission fee for seniors (55 and over) is $10. 00 for the combo and $6. 00 for one museum; students (13-18) $10. 00 and $6. 00 respectively. You can get more info about Big Daddy’s Drag Racing Hall of Fame and Antique Car Museum at http://www.garlits.com/ I think I've got the link added below as well.

Sonny’s BBQ is next door and after another afternoon in the FL weather it just might be the place to hang your hat while you have a sandwich or a platter

Upcoming topics of discussion will include the Schied Diesel event in IN in August and joint meetings and events with the Southeastern Turbo Diesel Registry ( http://www.setdr.org/ ).

Free Raffle Items:

One Combination Admission ticket

“CUMMINS Power” plate

How many plan on attending this event? It will help me plan parking for all of us if you'll respond.

Thanks,

Glenn

Gene,

I am glad the younger version will be there as well. My son can't wait until next weekend.

I plan on bringing a cooler full of cold bottled water for everyone there. It was pretty hot at the last outdoor meeting.

See you there.

Glenn

Hey Glenn;

In your earlier post you said there will be Autometer Gauges there from Geno's. Will there be any for sale at the meeting for immeadiate delivery. If so I am interested in a 0-60# boost gauge,(black face), or I might settel for a 0-50 # model.

I have a line on a 0-60 # , new / delivered, for $42. 00 but if they will be available at the meeting,(one of the demos possibly), not having to wait for shipping is always nice.

Jim,

I plan to get there about 10:00 to get demo stuff set up. SFord will also be there early. Most early arrivals spend time looking at and talking about the trucks. I plan to go through bot museums after the meeting.

When I talked to Rodin on Monday to get the gauges for demo she told me that the EGT and Temp units were backordered from Autometer. I was going to purchase two gauges and borrow another one and be able to see the new dash pod filled up and placed on anyones dash for comparison. Robin was going to look in the returned items and try to get three Autometer gauges for us to at least be able to see a full pod. I am sorry that there won't be any available to buy on Saturday.

Services offered...

I will be bringing my repair tools... If anyone has door dings or things of that nature, look for me... . my Green 2500 4x4 with a front license plate that reads, "GRINCH".

Brian

FWIW on gauges.

Any one living around Tampa, Fl. , I purchased my Autometer gauges at United Speed World in Tampa Fl. 813-935-0957. The price was cheapest I found at the time (last year). They are located at 11978 North Florida Ave. Either "A" pillar or dash mount, usually with next day delivery.

Just add paint from local dodge dealer, if they have it. They didn't, so went without it.

See them Saturday.

Tomorrows Weather

I checked the forecast for tomorrows weather. Pretty much standard fare for Florida summertime. Scattered showers possible. Around here they are REAL scattered. Raining over there but not over here, etc. From the AOL weather center, "Saturday: Mostly cloudy with scattered thunderstorms. High around 85F. Winds SW 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 50%. Rainfall amounts generally a half an inch. Heavier amounts in localized areas. "

At least it will be cooler than it has been here the last few days. It has been into the lower 90's each day for a while. I'll have a cooler full of cold water for anyone that gets thirsty. See everyone tomorrow.

Glenn

FUN!!

Despite the gully-washer, that was a hoot! Enjoyed seeing you all there and hearing your stories. Looking forward to the next one!

I also had a good time.

It's time to put these Bad Boy's on a dyno and find out just how bad they really are.

Our next meet needs to be some place where we can dyno till our hearts content.

Gene

Too close out the July 21 meeting. Thanks go to Glenn Foley for getting the meeting all set up at Don Garlits Speed World. Also for getting some display items from Geno's Garage. We are working to get the next meeting, sometime in September, at one on the speed shops with a Dyno set up to handle the mighty CTD. Waiting on some word from the far south, deep Florida that is. As soon as we get that word, a message will go out to all, along with a post here.

I had a great time, I would have loved to hang in the parking lot a little longer and check out all the trucks, but I guess most everyone was ready to leave (including the wife haha)

Im in the process of talking to Albert of Xtreme motorsports about a possible meeting there and dyno pulls for anyone intrested . Glenn I will e-mail you about it. The museum was excellent, being a drag racer myself I totally enjoyed it and learned some great history.
