No, It's aweful! No scenery to speak of. No views or vistas. Not a bit of fantastic camping. I don't know why anyone would want to be in the mountains! :D :-laf

Seriously- The only drawback that I might add is that if you wander a bit to get to the the mountins can have some bad traffic during weekends in the summer. With your fiver you shoud have an exhaust brake if you hit the hills. The roads can be quite steep. Would hate to hear you had to use a runaway ramp.

Why Pueblo? Family? If you are out this far- come see the mountains! Like I said- It's horrible up here! ;)

Trip

Friends of ours has a daughter in Korea in military. They are all planning to move there when she gets out. We were going with them to home/land hunt. I had heart surgery 7 months ago and wife and I decided working all the time was for the democrates.

Sound like a plan. I hope your surgery went well. My dad had that and he felt like a new man afterward. The only thing I might add in light of the new info is to check with your doctor should you do want to hit the hills. The oxygen is noticeably thinner. To me it is not so bad at the Pueblo elevation (although you might feel it a little) but at 10,000 feet it can be an issue. Altitude sickness is very common here for some people. It is a wonderful state! Hope you can enjoy its many bounties!

I just made a similar trip, west from the Georgia area, I live in Utah, and pretty much used I 40 west. Its a good route, not to much up and down. stayed in State Parks with camping accommodations. All parks were good to stay in. Water and Electricity and some had cable tv. When we got to Okla. the parks were scarce, so one had to go a ways out of your way for a park. Commercial parks were plentiful.

Have a good trip.

CUMMINZ my wife and I are lifetime residents of Pueblo and think you will find it a wonderful friendly city to live in. Mild winters, low humidity, close to the mountains or Denver and Colorado Springs if you feel the need to go to a big city. Housing runs about 20% cheaper than our northern neighbors so I understand. If I can help with suggestions on anything please let me know.

Trip westward

I am just getting plum excited hearing you guys talk about this trip. One thing I might add about my surgery. I am in early 50s and thought I was in good condition. I have had very few pains prior to surgery, NO symtoms of any problem. My family has lots of history with heart disease. I went into my doc last August for stress test and passed it. Went on to catherization and thats where they found problems. You guys please visit my website pertaining to my heart trouble and it might save your life. 2 articles there you need to read.
