NE Colt State Park Aftermath...

Annual Mopar Show

I am a new TDR member and I attempted to contact the CNY Chapter organizer by email, but it comes back as undeliverable. I called on the phone but was told I had a wrong number. Is there a person other than the one listed scheduling local events?

From what I have seen the only NY chapter is Long Island, the other choice would be the New England boys or south to the Maryland group. I haven't heard any activity from the LI group, But the New England group does quite a bit.

I'm not sure who you contacted... . but, "TheRabbitTree and Snow Man" are in your area.

I'm sorta close - ~100 miles east of Albany.....

Us New England guys have a blast... . :-laf

when I had a VW TDI I used to attend their get-togethers (GTGs). I've got a bunch of diagnostic equipment, including a 5 gas emission analyzer, a Simu-Tech and a DRBIII. I like to make myself usefull. Now that I own a Cummins I'd like to meet a few of the TDR members. I guess I'll just keep watching the forums for the next event that is close.

thanks for the reply,

Joe

Hey, I need to change a timing belt on my ALH powered A4 New Beetle..... interested?! :D I bought the stuff from dieselgeek, but have yet to get the manuals, tools, etc.....

You will quickly realize how different the Cummins crowd is from the TDI crowd. The VW crowd absolutely refuses to do anything that is not in the owner's manual or what the "TDI Gods" deem appropriate. There are a lot more free spirits and independant thinkers here on the TDR.....

Welcome aboard!

The next New England GTG is up in Ossipee, ME on July 12th. We're attending a sand drag event. Even if you don't want to beat on your truck... . you can check out the horse pulls, show grade walking hamburgers (show cows, etc... . ), mini-tractor pulls, and a wide assortment of 'Happy go Pukey' amusement rides... .

We had an absolute blast last year... .

Hi Matt,

I did three t-belts on my TDI before selling it. They take a while, but they're not too bad. The Beetle is a little tighter than the others. I recommend using the correct cam timing tool, and checking pump timing after doing the belt. My timing adjustments changed with every new belt. I can do both those adjustments pretty quickly for you if we ever meet up. I don't have a working Vag-com right now (the board is burned) but I can do the pump timing mechanically. Get the new Pump Timing bolts from VW, the ones that can be re-used. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REUSE THE STOCK PUMP BOLTS. Bad things can happen. You'll also need new coolant.

Have fun,

Joe

New coolant? I hadn't planned on taking the head off... . :D

Deo has all the tools - except for the VAG-COM.

The timing belt kit from Dieselgeek has the stretch bolts included... .

I really need to get it done, it's way overdue. Deo - are you listening?! haha
