I just heard about these and they sound very effective at filtering soot down to .5 micron. Does anyone have first hand experience with them? Is this true? Are they worth the effort/cost and is there one for our 6.7L cummins?

The main problem with them is oil pressure drop. It’s like having an open oil pressure line albeit a small one. That’s why you don’t hear much about them.

I have a spinner model #25 in my shop that I still plan to hook up to my 2005.

I plan to remove the plastic vanity plate over the aluminum valve cover and mount the filter on top of the valve cover itself, in place of the PCV valve which I will move toward the back of the valve cover. The spinner will able to gravity drain the clean oil right back into the valve drain and will ONLY need a supply hose added from the regular oil filter ports.

FYI -- It has a built in spring loaded check valve that only engages the centrifugal filter when oil psi reaches 30 psi so you do not really have to worry about using oil pressure at idle speeds.

Diesel Craft told me their OC-25 is a universal pump for 50-500HP pickup engines and will work in pressures 30-60 psi. Apparently a check valve both prevents backflow and shuts if oil pressure drops. A separate air pump spins the oil at 6,000rpm to separate out solids.

My 6.7 HO oil pressure never drops below 40psi and I think the small 1/4 in NPT wouldn't drop pressure very much at all.

Question is, is the $399 cost returned by cleaner oil/less wear?

No, not as long as you are not willing to stretch the intervalls to above 20K Miles and couple years.
As long as you keep the factory intervalls there is NO benefit from any added oil filtration, the engine will last as long as any other from factory.

Many people make good dollar selling unnecessary stuff....
Especially todays were the trucks are really good from factory and there is no real need for upgrades anymore like in the past.
But the companys are still here, locking for some stuff to sell.

If it drops oil pressure, you may also do more harm than good.

The orifice had better be a lot smaller than 1/4 inch or you’ll quickly learn an expensive lesson. Do you have an actual ol pressure gauge installed? I doubt it since you claim you never see less than 40psi. I’d do a little more research if I were you.

You DO need to learn more about these before installing on your truck.

The air pump is NOT to spin the centrifugal nozzles, but rather is used to push the clean oil back into the oil sump, which simply allows for MANY more mounting options instead of on top of the engine or right above the sump with a straight shot down. Furthermore, the inlest is in fact 1/2" NPT which allows for a full flow right up until the check valve, which is a ballbearing/spring arrangement about 1/8" diameter.
