Any experiences with Auto Zone "ceramic" brake pads for our trucks? I've been using the Carbon Metallic and always looking for something better (green grass syndrome). By the way, the Carbon Metallics now have a two-year warranty instead of lifetime.

Usually better to go with the cheap brakes. The harder ones (ceramic) tend to build a lot of heat and lead to warped rotors. This is from experience that i have had with the hard pads.

Brake pads are WEAR ITEMS. For best performance, you shouldn't be concerned with maximum durability. You want pads that wear evenly, stop hard, and can handle high heat. It would be nice if they didn't dust a bunch and lasted long, but these are simply conveniences.

CARBON/KEVLAR is the way to go. Almost all racing brakes are carbon/kevlar or carbon/carbon.

Try the Porterfield racing brakes in the R4S compound. As installed on my Nissan, they will yank your fillings out and don't dust much. The rotors are in good shape as well.

Did I mention that I have about 1/3 of the original lining left even after 50K miles of almost all in-town driving?

I will never use a pad other than POrterfield if they have an applications for it.

Heck, porterfield will even custom make a pad if you send them the dimensions!
