I have heard that fuels that have higer cetane ratings aren't needed on cummins motor. It was said that benefits are seen in higher rpm motors . Any truth to that???

A higher cetane number basically means a shorter ignition delay from the time fuel is injected into the cylinder which aids in better combustion. Higher cetane numbers (within reason) will make an engine run smoother and produce better power. This doesnt necessarily mean more is better, either. Most engines will have a specified operating range, running higher than recomended doesnt mean the engine will run that much better.

We have some pretty poor diesel in this country,Marco has to back off on his tuning from what he can run in Europe
