Making a Murderer - Netflix

HHhuntitall, Nope, not even close:D! It comes from sheep:-laf! Anhydrous Lanolin! It is THE SLICKEST high pressure, low temperature lubricant! A very small amount of that slicked on a GI . 30 caliber case that has been fired in a Garand will full length resize with just a slight resistance on the press handle!!!

Once the inside of the die is coated with a thin film of the A. L. , with a slight smear on the case body and a little touch at the mouth of the case to catch the neck and expander ball, the FL sizing procedure is smoooooooth. The down side is that it takes NAPTHA to remove the stuff. I use lighter fluid on a paper towel, degrease and inspect each case as I go. The inside of the neck requires a plastic bore brush dipped in the lighter fluid. Wear surgeons gloves and have plenty of fresh air;)!

Prior to any brass being inserted in a die. It is all washed in a tumbler with hot soapy water and steel BB shot. I'd like to try the Stainless Steel pins. However the BB's work great, except for cleaning primer pockets. With the pins, I could decap and wash. That would take care of the primer pockets and eliminate one step. GregH.

Yikes! Where do you find that??! And what turned you on to it? The STP has similar characteristics... . even after wiping with a clean rag, you can still feel it on the cases..... The IOSSO brass cleaner will take it off in high enough concentration... . Ever tried that on the sheep poop to see if it will come off? :-laf

I've used the STP for years on the . 50 brass, as some of the ones I've had were pretty big chambered, and hard to resize..... and it takes lots of lube, so regular case lube gets a little expensive after a while... . I grabbed a bottle of STP one day to try it, and it seems a little goes a LONG way. Been using it ever since. I hate stuck cases!! The STP also seems to dissolve carbon, so any black marks on the case dissapear with the STP.

I've seen the BBs used, and even some smaller balls, probably about the size of the average congressman's, that worked even better. I have no idea where they came from, but this guy found 'em at Bell Helicopter when it shut down. They were using it and lead shot bags for ballast when testing rotors, and gave it all away to whoever could carry it. Well, have truck will travel, and guess who carried most of it away... ... for a nominal cut, of course. I didn't get any of the steel shot, but got several pounds of lead #s 8, 6, and BBB. Matt ended up with some of the steel shot by accident and ended up putting it in a concrete mixer from Harbour Freight and uses it to polish his pistol brass. Cheap and quiet polisher!

HHhuntitall, You used to be able to buy it at a pharmacy. Its the same stuff they use in "Bag Balm". But pure and moisture free. Its also great fer cold cracks and hangnails:-laf. Its far better than possum fat and bear grease fer slickin down yer hair. I found out that "Mane and Tail" worked better on my beard:-laf:D You should have seen it:-laf! It was chest long:D! Then I got Married;)!

I believe the onliest place I can get the A. L. is the internet. Nobody carries it locally, any more. A 1# jar will last a long time!

Amazon.com: Lanolin (anhydrous) - Ultra Refined Butter 1 Lb: Beauty

I'll have to try the STP when I run out of the A. L. GregH

Thanks for all the advice pretty much do as the way you do it . I lay the shells in a small cardboard box and a very light spray and roll them around . Will have to do the solvent wash after the sizing. Understand the piston effect saw it when i was putting them in the case gage. Happy New Year all

I use the RCBS X die. No need to trim anymore. :D

I had the Dillon case trimmer setup, but sold it.

Lately I've been using Hornday's one step lube.

All my AR's are 5. 56mm chambered, so the X die may not work for you.

If it was me, I'd get the chamber opened up to 223 Wylde. That way you could safely use 5. 56mm NATO surplus ammo.

..... or just shoot a few thousand rounds through it and it won't matter much. The throat is so erroded in 2nd UltraMatch, it's probably . 20 out further than a NATO chamber..... still shoots sweet, though!! Just gets faster every year! :-laf

I shot the last one out in my 1st UltraMatch at around 5000 rounds. I was surprised at how well they held up!! It was a 1:9, cheap Olympic barrel, but shot 55gr Hornady V-max bullets lights out!! Gave it up one winter; I just kept missing, so I sat down to check zero and went,"UH-OH!" Thought the scope base was loose at first... ... finally deduced it was the barrel, so called Kreiger and it's a winner again!! :eek:Oo.

223/223 Wylde

It'll shoot out in the throat, but the chamber dimensions will remain the same.

Wilde is a comprimise between 223 and 5. 56mm NATO.

They made it so you could shoot cheap 5. 56 ammo, yet still have a "target" gun.

Or so they say... .

Use my black rifles to shoot yoat's and keep them away from stock. I have had a few that dont like Military Brass Dont know why but Rem/Win run fine same dies same everything just dont like Military Brass for some reason.

If you need some of the anh. Lanolin check with your local pharmacy they should still be able to order it. My wholesales still inventory it.
