Change Oil alert -

I've got about 4500 miles on my 2012 CTD. Mostly highway, and always fully warmed up. I still haven't seen my first Change Oil alert.



When have others with the 4th Gen trucks seen this alert show up? I looked in the manual, but it doesn't say anything about mileage - just to get it changed when it shows up. Is it just a counter that counts down to 5000 miles or is there some kind of analysis done that looks at either driving style or oil condition or both in order to determine the exact time to change? I won't go past 5000, especially on this first change regardless of alert or not.

The ECM looks at your duty cycle to determine when the message gets displayed. I think there is a warning in the owners manual to the effect never exceed 7500miles between oil change even if you do not get the warning

I changed the oil at about 2200, 6100 and now I am at about 7200. I plan on changing mine at 5k or as close as possible. All of the miles except for the first 600 are pulling a trailer. A good friend of mine on the tr said I may never see the oil change sign doing this.

I changed mine at 5000 miles, never saw the oil change sign, the way I use it and changing every 5000-7500 I doubt I ever will.

My first was some where around 4000-4500 second about the same and just this week the third almost 5k this time.
