It is now time to change my transmission oil on my 99 4x4 2500 auto tranmission.
I am trying to find information on using the method of draining the transmission and torque converter by opening one of the lines near the transmission cooler. Is there a method of opening and reclosing one of the quick disconnect fittings near the cooler and using one of those lines, any special tools needed or kit to required on these fittings ?. How do I identify which would be the return line from the cooler to the transmission ?.
Any suggestions on the subject would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brian, I have had good luck loosening the valve body bolts instead of messing with the lines. Loosen all of the valvebody bolts no more than three turns, more than three turns and you risk things getting out of place. Loosen them and wait an hour or so. I have been able to get 11 quarts out of mine this way. Be sure to retorque the bolts to the proper value (which I don't have right now) before you go back together with it. Also make sure the wires that run around the back of the valvebody don't get pinched when you tighten the valvebody back up. It sounds a lot harder than it really is. This is what works for me, hope it helps.

Thanks for the input on draining the tourque converter. I will try to find the tourque Spec.
Thanks: Brian

Brian, Forgot where I saved this from, but was a good read on completly flushing the transmission oil. It's an article for a Voyager, but should apply to a Ram. Scroll down the page to "Flushing the system: a more complete method" It tells how to splice into the trans return lines.

The usual disclaimers apply: I'm not responsible for anything...
