Change truck order details

I just received my printout from the dealer identifying the options, etc on my new 03 3500 but it didn't identify the interior color. I want the dark slate color with my Laramie packaged leather seats. When I called the dealer he indicated that I was stuck with the Taupe interior since he had already placed the order. Previously he had indicated that I could change details up to 1 week after receiving the printout showing my truck and its options.



So what is the latest time I can change the interior color???

I can tell you that the options can be changed till the truck goes into the build stage "D" that can be anywhere from 3 to 10 days lots of variables, and depending on if the dealer has available allocations if he does not it could be longer. In any event you need to ask the salesperson what is the status of your order. It will be a code like BE, BL, D, D1, if he does not know ask for the person that places the orders or the sales manager. As a last resort the dealer can call distribution and manually ask for a late status option change that the computer will not take. Sometimes that will work, not always.

I was told you could change it anytime before it went to "build" status. However, mine went to that right away (whole truck freight-trained through the system). You'll probably have to raise a stink and get the regional rep involved. If you're not happy with the truck, simply walk away from the deal. You probably have some leverage since the original printout didn't clearly list interior color (although the color code was probably shown).



I have a black truck and am REALLY happy with the taupe. IMHO, the grey is too dark:-{} . The taupe is just dark enough to look really classy. But, I agree, there are a few colors it just doesn't go with.
