Installed reman vp44 and I still get code 0216 :{ , It runs fine no coughs or sputters like before. I erase it and drive a ways and it's back. What gives, did I get a bad one?

Could be that the PE Comp killed it in dhort order, or the comp is bad and throwing the code. Try disconnecting the comp, clearing the codes and drive for a while to see if it comes back.

Are you erasing the codes with an OBDII scanner, or does it just go away? I noticed that when I would get the 0216 code, it would last a couple days and then go out, and they a couple of days later come back. But if I looked at the computer via OBDII, only one instance of the code was set. Perhaps you are seeing codes set prior to the new pump?

No, I erase them with an OBDII scanner I got at Autozone. I disconnected the PE Comp today and it still would throw up a 0216, so that rules the Comp out. Another factor is I realized now that I ended up with an 027 spec pump instead of the 028 that is for the HO engine. The Cummins service man thinks it must have the correct spec of pump to run right. I am wanting to believe that is the problem, in any case they are sending me the correct spec pump, so I'll see if I can get it under 2 hours out and in. Also I will be replacing the cam sensor this time, for $40 it is too easy to replace at the same time.

Problem solved, I installed the 028 spec pump today (2 hrs flat) and I discovered that when I installed the 027 the other day I smashed part of the key. So i think nothing is wrong with the first pump and I do believe an HO engine will run with and SO pump because it quit giving 0216 code after about 3 days. Anyway the HO pump is in, with no codes yet, and there is a BIG difference in the performance with the HO pump.
