I am considering changing out the hy35 on my 2001. 5 for a hx35 with a 14cm exhaust... . Have any of you guys done this? I am not really sold on the hx40 (especially with all the problems lately).

The final product will have DDIII's, PE-Comp, DTT tc & vb, K&N filter, + Banks 4" exhaust. You guys with all the knowledge please chime in, do you think this will be enough turbo for the temps? I don't do much towing, and when I do it is only a 4000lbs. max load. One last question, where would you guys recommend purchasing a setup like this?

Thanks,

Doug S.

depending on how hot you set up thee PE comp you will probably be able to get to hot for the turbo you want to run , also setting up your shift points will be a bit frustrating with a 5 level adjustable box .

as far as getting what you want , its going to be a mix and match due to all the different products you are buying . Performance Diesel is the first name that comes to mind with all of the different manufacturers products you plan to be buying from .

I don't think I was clear in my last post. In reference to where to buy... . I was refering to the hx35 with the 14cm housing. As for the shift point issue I am working with Bill K. on this.

Thanks,

Doug S.

Just got back from my mechanic's shop last night after swaping my hy35 to hx35 14cm (chickened out doing it my self glad i did he had all the misc little pcs required for the job. Thanks a million Jim Leonard )
Here are the results;
The hy35 is a govenor! restricting my semi-bombed ctd. The motor revs more freely in the driveway. there is a noticable improvement in the feel of the power. it feels kike my truck went on a crash diet of 800 pounds! My egt's went down 250 degrees empty the turbo wine went op 40%. (yee-ha it's alive)lag? what is that can't find it here. less smoke off the line when tromping on it. same when behaving. One suprising note; never in the 14 mo's/24k miles has the mpg computer said over 18. 5. on the freeway wile cruising @ 70mph the first reading was 21. 3 and wile still testing the power occasionally(I cant help myself. Do i need to get some professional help. When and were is the next local CTDA meeting)I arrived home with 20. 3 on the computer. this thing rocks!! just ask the punk in the new cheby 4X4 with the exhaust system that had to downshift to still be able to read my license plate. will be updating my signature soon

Just out of curiosity, where did you get your HX35? I've been thinking about switching out the smaller turbo for some time, but need to know where I can get my hands on one for a reasonable price(to keep my wife happy!).
