Well I have decided to change to Performance Friction's brake pads on the front. There is a couple of things I need to get out of the way first. First question, what does it take to get the caliper off (size, torx or hex) ? Second, is there any tricks I need to know about first? All comments are welcome.

Thanks in Advance

Curtis

The caliper pins (qty. 2 per caliper) use a 3/8" Allen wrench to remove.

There are no other "tricks" per se IF the rotors are not removed.

Ya...that's what I thought!

I have a very elaborate collection of Snap-On tools, purchasing them for more than 25 years. Even still, I've had to purchase many more tools ("specials" mostly) to complete my EGR brake upgrade on my '98. 5 Ram.

It just keeps getting better and better! ( )

Open the bleed screw before squeezing the calipers open. Forcing the calipers open can cause high back pressure and shoot back any crud in the caliper possibly damaging your ABS or master cylinder. You won't have to bleed your brakes by doing this but now is good time to flush the system and refill with new fluid.
