Ok guys, I have the new plug and seal, or O-ring. But how do I get the old one out. I want to change it this weekend while its nice out. I did a search but cant find anything that describes how to change it in detail. I think I'm going to try drilling two holes and screw in two self tapping screws. But to install, it looks like the plug will just slip in and then just have to hit it with hammer. The plug is cupped so when it gets flattened out it will expand. Does this sound correct or am I just shooting in the dark.

cam plug is replaced. It was actually a piece of cake thanks to a suggestion from Greenleaf. I drilled two holes and screwed in two #10's in each hole. But instead of side cuts, I used a 12 inch prybar and only pryed on one screw. came out easy. There was no O-ring behind it, must have been a source of some oil there. Put in new O-ring and placed new plug over it, then hit it with a hammer a few times to flatten it out. Now I'm just waiting for my transmission.

I just knew you had it in yah! What does the plug look like? Is it a smooth plug with a dished out center? This is called a welch plug. OR. Is it a cup shaped deal like an engine block core ( aka freeze) plug. And you say it has a place to install an O ring???

What are you doing to your transmission?

Hey Geenleaf, the plug was more like the welch plug you described. And yes, there was a groove in the block for an O-ring. I hope this cures my oil leaks. The transmission is getting rebuilt by a local mechanic, I should have it back next week. And thanks again for the advise.
