If I remember right the 99 head doesent have hardend seats and the 01' head does. Just curious but why do you want to change to the 99' head? Yes they do interchange.

John

I found a 99 head that has been ported polished and oringed. It has had hardend seats put in it. If I rework my head then my truck will be down for a week or so. So if I had a head to swape with it would take no longer then a weekend. I can still drive my truck but it is leaking oil from head gasket. Only from the front. No water in oil or oil in water yeat:eek:

Got Smoke, call Piers and talk to one of the guys they would know, good place to get the gasket and studs too! The head change will not take a whole weekend... ... it's not that bad!

Jim

Its going to take the better part of 2 days for complete removal and reinstall.

At least thats how long it took a couple weeks back when I installed an O ringed head in someones truck.

No easy task, but not very difficult either.

Just tedious.

PM if you have an questions, I would be glad to give you some pointers.

Twins do make it worse no doubt, the exhaust stuff on any of them can be unbolted and moved over a few inches, other than the few other items the 26 head bolts are the most time.

Jim

Good time on the job Fuller!

Dumb Question

Hey diesel studs :D?

How are you installing the studs on the rear of the engine on these new body style trucks? I work on cummins diesels every day, and it is hard enough to get the head on and off with bolts :)

Thanks for filling in my blank,

Russell
